construction ... home
The old sauna was removed from the site during the winter and construction took place in early summer 1999. Because of the location it was not possible to use heavy machinery on the site and everything had to be made by hand. When we started digging the foundations the ground was still frozen in some places and when it melted the mud came in. Luckily there was extremely little rain that summer and also almost no mosquitoes. Many of the solutions and details were decided on the site and this was only possible because the people I worked with had such good spirit. A special thank you goes to my mother Kaarina and my grandmother Lahja, who served us the best food on any constructions site ever. |
