The stove (kiuas) is the heart of the
sauna. The massive stove (65 kg of stones) has plenty of heating power,
but this is not used for reaching extreme temperatures. A massive stove
gives better control over the heat / moisture climate (löyly) of the sauna and
allows people to get just the kind of sauna experience they personally
like.
The stones are specially designed ceramic sauna stones. They don't break into pieces like natural stones gradually do, and thus don't release dust into the air. With natural stones the air ventilation through the stove gets gradually clogged up which makes the stove less efficient over time. Water is heated in a tank that is integrated to the side of the stove. |
